
In 1947, once Japan's defeat in warfare II, it re-assumed its original name. With the beginning of the new university system in 1949, Todai enclosed up the previous 1st Higher college (today's Komaba campus) and also the former Yeddo Higher college, that thereafter assumed the duty of teaching first- and intermediate undergraduates, whereas the schools on Hongo main field took care of third- and senior students.

According to the Japan Times, the university had one,282 professors in Gregorian calendar month 2012. Of those, fifty eight were ladies.
In the fall of 2012 and for the primary time, the University of Yeddo started 2 college man programs entirely tutored in English and engaged toward international students — Programs in English at Komaba (PEAK) — the International Program on Japan in East Asia and also the International Program on Environmental Sciences.
